Overview

The Controller works under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for analyizing financial information and preparing financial reports for the Company.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate is able to:

  • Complete reports and analysis of financial operations as requested by senior leadership.  Conduct cost analysis , ratio and trend analysis , and other comparative examinations as appropriate.  Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Interpret and analyze the financial statements continually
  • Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions
  • Prepare sales commissions/ chargeback detail reports
  • Participate in the preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership
  • Advises management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies and actions
  • Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports
  • Continuously strive to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership by establishing systems and controls
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms
  • Work closely with upper management and other department managers to ensure their needs are met and the lines of communication remain open
  • Perform other administrative duties, as needed
  • Maintain professional appearance at all times
  • Maintain high ethical standards in all actions

 

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate must encompass the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification desired
  • A minimum of seven (7) years experience in Accounting, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Strong hands-on management, organization and communication skills
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking  and the analysis and reporting of financial data; business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources; and arithmetic, alegebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem; identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information; coordinate activities with other employees and to oversee the work of subordinates; use good judgement in challenging situations; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet and in-person; use standard office equipment; proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
