The Rental Car and Business Development Consultant is responsible for all aspects of the rental car process and generating business from Internet inquiries to ensure department profitability and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Do the right thing.
  • Prepares all rental and return documents accurately and completely.
  • Communicates detailed contracts, rental policies, and procedures.
  • Opens contracts and sells additional insurance coverage and accessories.
  • Reviews rental contracts, policies, and procedures with all guests to ensure a complete understanding of return time, rates, and service charges.
  • Creates and manages corporate accounts.
  • Actively manages vehicle maintenance, inventory, cash sheets and daily business reports.
  • Handles and communicates all aspects of the rental process: rental/return documents, fuel services, days/extra hours/surcharges and optional coverage's.  
  • Completes the proper rental agreement steps from opening to closing rental agreements.
  • Assists and coordinates guests within the queue to minimize wait time and promote the most efficient service method.
  • Inspects vehicle for damage upon return.
  • Maintains vehicle cleanliness and service needs to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Answers the phones and emails to assist guests in a friendly, helpful, and prompt manner.
  • Prospects follow-up calls, set appointments for service and sales, and gauge guest satisfaction.
  • Schedules sales/service appointments and reschedules no-show customers.
  • Follow-ups with existing and potential customers to generate appointments.
  • Handles multiple phone lines to make reservations, answer customer questions and give quotes.
  • Assists guests who are inquiring about vehicles over Internet.
  • Provides guests with information on vehicle pricing (MSRP) or dealership pre-set guidelines, packages, and availability.  
  • Follows up with unsold guest via email or by phone.
  • Informs about and introduces guests to dealership operations, including the service and parts departments.
  • Maintains daily activity records and reports.
  • Understands and presents current vehicle information, warranty and factory incentives to guests.
  • Performs vehicle deliveries, as needed.
  • Works alongside the General Sales Manager to forecast goals and objectives.
  • Handles guests concerns tactfully, promptly, and with genuine concern for the guest’s problems.
  •  Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to guests.
  • Maintains manufacturer’s certification and training.
  • Assists in all areas of the dealership as needed.
  • Follows all company safety policies, operations and practices.
  • Maintains assigned workplace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Maintains high ethical standards and professional appearance.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.
  • Maintains professional appearance at all times.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual should possess:  

  • At least one (1) year sales experience, preferably in the automotive industry; proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts (such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages); vehicle leasing principles; advanced computer skills; automotive finance; equity values and depreciation; and laws that govern retail automotive sales.
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other employees; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language; learn and understand the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail auto sales; pay attention to details; follow-up with guests and employees; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet, and in-person; use standard office equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license; have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.
