 The Service Parts Specialist is responsible for upselling and providing the service/body shop technicians with parts.





Essential Duties include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.


  • Assists technicians in selecting required parts, suggesting companion requirements, and ensuring technician is exposed to the full product line.


  • Assist technicians/ASM in determining replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, guest’s requests, or guest descriptions of malfunctions.


  • Updates and up-sells technician on new products.


  • Accurately prices parts and accessories using the proper pricing source and transfers the information to the proper document and computer system.


  • Answers phone calls, internet requests and provides part and price information as requested.


  • Notifies management of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.


  • Requests special order parts solicited by guest/technician/ASM/Estimator and notifies when they have arrived.


  • Pulls needed parts from stock and follows-up on back ordered parts.


  • Pulls and delivers parts to technicians when necessary.


  • Locates out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submits an emergency order, if necessary.


  • Achieves monthly sales and forecasted goals.


  • Maintains records of all repairs orders, invoice, insurance estimates, and special order parts.


  • Maintains special orders so there are none over 30 days old or any with insufficient on hand quantities.


  • Keeps current on new products and/or updates and keeps technicians/ASM/Estimators informed.



  • Keeps counter areas clean and uncluttered.



  • Assist in all other areas of the parts department, as needed.



  • Take all of their Toyota classes and online tests to maintain their certification status.



  • Performs other specific administrative functions as directed by management.



  • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.



  • Maintains a high level of grooming, hygiene, and uniform appearance.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent;
  • At least 3 years of automotive parts experience
  • Knowledge of automotive parts; and mathematical principles (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, and percentages) and application;
  • Ability to pay attention to detail; follow-up with internal and external guests; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; read and comprehends instructions and information in the English language; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, Internet and in person; and use standard office equipment.
