  • Overview

    We are looking for a candidate that can thrive in a demanding and fast pace environment.  The Controller is an integral part of our Finance Team, and is responsible for the financial affairs of the dealership.  The individual in this role must have the aptitude to create and evaluate reports and prepare financial analysis of the operations, including interim and final financial statements, with supporting schedules to aid, guide, and support the leadership of the organization.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     

    • Preparing reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings
    • Interpreting and analyzing the financial statements continually
    • Coordinating the month-end and year-end closing process, including overall production of financial statements and ensures all accounting schedules are reconciled
    • Preparing sales commission/chargeback detail reports
    • Participating in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership
    • Advising management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions
    • Advising management on desirable operational adjustments necessary to reach organizational financial targets and schedules
    • Working proactively with all managing partners, senior managers and directors to ensure best practices for budget preparation and management
    • Hiring, training, monitoring, and championing the performance of all business office staff
    • Providing department managers with detailed financial and management reports
    • Continuously striving to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership by establishing systems and controls
    • Maintaining current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
    • Ensuring compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms 
    • Working closely with upper management and other department managers to insure that their needs are met and the lines of communication remain open
    • Performing other administrative duties as needed
    • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individuals should possess:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification desired;
    • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Accounting, preferably in the automotive industry and a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley; economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data; business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources; and arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications; proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to successfully apply forecasting techniques and skills to develop and evaluate business goals and strategies, analyze information to derive insights and implications to initiate planning and/or re-planning, and controlling actual results versus budget; choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problems; coordinate activities with other employees and to oversee the work of subordinates; use good judgment in challenging situations; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet and in person; and use standard office equipment
    • A high sense of urgency and the ability to multitask, manage competing deadlines, and work demanding hours when needed.
