  • Overview

    We are looking for a General Manager for our newest dealership, Longo Toyota of Prosper.  The ideal candidate is a proven leader in automobile sales and service and will be responsible to plan, motivate, and coordinate the activities of the team.   The General Manager must also have effective people management skills, ability to use sound business judgement and uphold our Penske Way values while taking on the responsibility and accountability for customer retention and the profitability of each department in the dealership. 


    Penske Motor Group (“PMG”) is the shared services entity for an industry-leading, privately owned group of five automotive dealerships in California and Texas. The group includes Longo Toyota (the largest dealership in the world) and Longo Lexus, both on the same campus (El Monte, CA - 14 miles East of Los Angeles). It also includes Lexus of Stevens Creek (San Jose, CA), Mercedes-Benz of Marin (San Rafael, CA), and Longo Toyota of Prosper (Prosper, TX - just North of Dallas). In total, we employ almost 1,300 employees. PMG’s business office is located on the Longo campus.

     Embracing the following responsibilities and duties:

    • Provide enthusiastic and effective leadership to develop highly productive and loyal employees
    • Design, review and approve compensation plans for all employees
    • Hold regularly scheduled managers meetings to ensure that every department is operating efficiently and profitably
    • Hire, train, and motivate all dealership department managers
    • Lead and direct the performance of all dealership department managers
    • Plan dealership operations for the coming year and submits to the company for approval
    • Meet with the COO, CFO, Controller/office manager monthly or as needed to review departmental forecasts for consistency with the annual forecast
    • Meet with managers individually to develop monthly and annual financial and strategic goals and objectives; and to review performance versus budgets/goals
    • Monitor the daily operating control, recommending improved courses of action where necessary
    • Provide company with accurate reports on the financial condition of the dealership
    • Ensure that the monthly financial statement is complete, accurate, and submitted on time to relevant parties
    • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel
    • Communicate management policies and procedures to all team members and ensure that they are understood and followed
    • Review all requests for training, approve those which are appropriate and consistent with the dealership's goals for professional/technical ability and advancement, and monitor their effectiveness
    • Coordinate with the business office to ensure that records and analyses are maintained accurately
    • Develop marketing strategies and assists in creating effective, cost-efficient advertising programs
    • Resolve any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify



    • 4 years minimum experience as an Automobile Dealership General Manager or equivalent history of combined education and professional accomplishments
    • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
    • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, be highly organized, ability to work independently, action oriented, see big vision and collaborative with all levels of organization
    • Proven leadership and change management skills to direct performance of Team Members and achieve desired results
    • Must have a valid sales & driver’s license and maintain an acceptable and safe driving record
