Overview

We are looking for a candidate that can thrive in a demanding and fast-paced environment. The Lexus of Stevens Creek Detail Apprentice has the opportunity to work with a numerous of Luxurious vehicles, ensuring the cleanliness and refurnishing of new and pre-owned vehicles to dealership standards.

 

Our ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail for this art, has excellent communication skills, utilizes industry techniques, and is knowledgeable in safety procedures with cleaning agents.

The Detail Apprentice Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation of $20.00.

*This position is 100% on site at Lexus of Stevens Creek in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Do the right thing!
  • Performs variety of vehicle cleaning tasks such as (but not limited to) washing, polishing, buffing, interior cleaning, and window cleaning.
  • Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devises.
  • Applies revitalizers and preservative agents to vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot and stain-resistant chemicals.
  • Cleans engine and engine departments with stem cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
  • Inspects quality of work performed to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Uses proper eye, hand, and body equipment when using products that require protection.
  • Operates tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reaches production objectives set by management.
  • Assists in all other areas of the Department, as needed.
  • Performs other administrative duties as needed.
  • Maintains assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Maintains a high level of grooming, hygiene, and uniform appearance.
  • Always maintains a professional appearance.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience as a washer, detailer, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of automotive maintenance, desired
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles; pay attention to detail; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual will be required to:

  • Frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with their body, arms, and/or legs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including low and high temperatures, precipitation and wind, noisy environments, and small and/or enclosed spaces.
  • Adjusting, moving, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Operating motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
